A History of Arts Weekly

The IPFW College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA) began producing Arts Weekly, a television program showcasing the arts in northeast Indiana, in September 2009. Filled with stories and interviews focused on art, music, dance, and theatre in the Fort Wayne and surrounding region, Arts Weekly first was produced in the CATV studios on the IPFW campus and became a staple on PBS39's Sunday television schedule for its first three years and was hosted by Chuck O'Connell, then dean of the IPFW CVPA, until his departure in 2012.

As the CVPA searched for a new dean in 2012, Arts Weekly began production as a live show televised from the PBS39 studios in a new time slot on Thursday evenings. The fourth season was hosted by Melinda Haines, director of the IPFW Community Arts Academy and assistant to the dean of the CVPA.

When John O'Connell was named dean of the IPFW College of Visual and Performing Arts in the summer of 2013, he took over the hosting duties during the fifth season until its final show October 2, 2014.

The IPFW College of Visual and Performing Arts is proud of its five seasons of Arts Weekly and thanks all the area artists, performers, directors and fans for their support of the show through the years.
