Department of Fine Arts

Students with artistic talent, dedication, discipline, and the desire to be visually expressive possess excellent potential for success in the IPFW Department of Fine Arts. The department’s goal is to educate and develop future art professionals with the individual creative, conceptual, and technical abilities necessary to meet the challenges of creating and teaching art. At IPFW, students study and work one-on one with dedicated and professionally active art faculty.

Department of Music

The Department of Music awards Indiana University degrees in music including music therapy, music education, a certificate in piano pedagogy, as well as a minor in music. A resident faculty of distinguished musicians, scholars, and artists—including outstanding performers from the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, along with nearly 20 associate faculty—provide the finest in musical instruction and guidance. Unique degree offerings, superb ensembles, and a spirit of excitement combine to provide an excellent environment for musical and professional growth.

Department of Theatre

What career enables professionals to amuse, surprise, enlighten, entertain, educate, and stir emotions? A career in theatre—whether in acting, directing, designing, or teaching—offers professionals a multitude of opportunities to display unique talents. Students who undertake serious theatre training quickly learn that theatre is a challenging discipline. At IPFW, students study and work one-on-one with dedicated and professionally active faculty. Unlike most larger universities, at IPFW you’ll have opportunities to act, direct, and/or design in major productions during your entire four-year course of study.

Department of Visual Communication and Design

The goal of the IPFW Department of Visual Communication and Design is to educate and develop each individual’s creative, conceptual, and technical abilities to meet the challenges of art and design. Programs in graphic design, computer art/design, and photography encourage interdisciplinary study by providing a broad spectrum of traditional and new media. Because classes are small, students develop close ties with faculty and flourish from personalized advising and mentoring. VCD faculty, who are all practicing artists/scholars, provide expertise in industry-standard business and technical practices. State-of-the-art classrooms, studios, lecture halls, and computer labs provide a professional learning environment.
