Elaine Blakemore, currently Professor of Psychology and Interim Dean of Arts and Sciences has been at IPFW since 1986. She received her Ph.D. in developmental psychology from Northern Illinois University in 1978. She has an active research program studying children’s gender development, and involving many IPFW students over the years. In 2009 she and two coauthors published a highly-regarded book, Gender Development. In addition to the book, Elaine has published more than 20 articles and delivered more than 40 presentations on her research on topics related to gender and gender development. Her work has been cited widely by other scholars and in textbooks in developmental psychology and in the psychology of gender. She is a member of the editorial board of the journal, Sex Roles. Elaine teaches courses in developmental psychology and the psychology of women.
