  • Event: Prof. Coroian, A Few Hard-to-Believe Facts in Everyday Math  PDF
    • Mathematics still has a few surprises that are designed to test and push your mental limits. Several relatively simple but controversial math problems and paradoxes, such as The Game Show Problem, The Birthday Paradox, Benford’s Law, and others, will be presented. If you’re looking for a mathematical way to impress your friends and beguile your enemies, here’s a good place to start.

    • IPFW's Actuarial Club, PI Math Club, and Pi Mu Epsilon invite you to join us for an informative discussion with Ian Rolland, retired Chairman and CEO of the Lincoln Financial Group, a Fortune 500 company.
    • Mr. Rolland joined Lincoln National Life's actuarial program in 1956, and he became president of the company in 1975. Two years later, he became CEO, a position he held until retiring in 1998. He has a wealth of experience in insurance, corporate planning, and leadership. In 1988-1989, Mr. Rolland also served as president of the Society of Actuaries.
