National Council of Licensure Examination (NCLEX)

National Council of Licensure Examination (NCLEX) and State Board Application Information

May graduates only are asked to submit their applications to the State Board of Nursing during a specified week each spring. For Spring 2016 the designated week is tentatively March 28-April 1.  ID photos (attached to the application), will need to be turned in to the Nursing Office, LA 345, by March 20, 2016.  An email will be sent to students when the ID photos are ready for pick-up.

December graduates: There is no specific deadline for December grads to submit applications.  Applications can wait until candidates are nearing completion of Virtual ATI.  Please submit ID photos before Thanksgiving break to ensure a timely return of your photo.

Virtual Assessment Technologies Institute (ATI) information:

NEW!!  Beginning October 1, 2015*

* 12-week access: students will have access to Virtual-ATI for 12 weeks, beginning once the student has completed their initial survey and is within 30 days of graduation. This will encourage students to review and sit for NCLEX sooner leading to higher pass rates and retention of knowledge. The student can purchase an additional 12 weeks, if necessary.

  • Upon completion of the semester, the Department of Nursing will send your name to ATI.
  • If you have an incomplete in a required course, your name will be sent after your requirements are satisfied.
  • You will be contacted by ATI through your gmail email.  If you do not have a gmail account, you can set one up by going to and clicking on gmail.  Then update your profile at with your new gmail email address.
  • ATI will send information for you to complete via your gmail address
  • ATI will contact you within two days of your returning the completed information.
  • The Nursing department will receive a weekly progress report every Thursday.
  • The Nursing Department chair will sign the approval for you to take the NCLEX-RN upon your successful completion of Virtual ATI, then send your Certificate of Completion to the Indiana State Board of Nursing.

Effective July 1, 2011, the Indiana State Board of Nursing will require a criminal background check for all new initial applications. Additional information on criminal background checks may be found by clicking on the Criminal Background Check link below.
