What is a graduate teaching assistantship?

Nursing typically offers several graduate teaching assistantships per semester. This appointment includes a stipend for teaching a clinical or teaching in the lab as well as fee remission for that semester.

What course does a graduate teaching assistant teach?

The graduate teaching assistant teaches clinicals or in the skills lab, running simulations, conducting check-offs, and tutoring.

How much does a graduate teaching assistant earn?

The 2012-2013 stipend is $6,370 per academic year for a .25 FTE or $12,740 for a .50 FTE. A .25 FTE in the lab is a 10 hour a week schedule for 16 weeks. A .25 FTE teaching clinical is a 4.5 - 5 hours that translates to equal 3 credit hours.
