Welcome to the College of Health and Human Services at IPFW.   The key component of our mission is to provide the highest quality education to future and current healthcare and hospitality practitioners by providing a learning environment that supports the development of culturally competent, caring, compassionate, and accountable professionals.

The College is composed of five Academic Departments and several Community Outreach initiatives.  The Academic Departments are:  1) Dental Education which includes programs in Dental Assisting, Dental Hygiene and Dental Laboratory Technology;  2) Consumer and Family Sciences; 3) Human Services;  4) Nursing both Undergraduate and Graduate; and 5) Radiography.  The outreach initiatives include; the Center for Healthy Living: Campus Clinic and Wellness Programs, the Lafayette Street Family Health Clinic and the Behavioral Health and Family Studies Institute.

The excellence of our programs is demonstrated by the achievements of our graduates on state and national certification or licensure examinations and by the support and commitment of our partners in the community.   Our programs are accredited by the National League of Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC), The Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association (CODA), The Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) and the Hotel Schools of Distinction (HSD).

In developing future healthcare, human service and hospitality professionals, we commit not only to providing quality classroom and laboratory experiences where students gain knowledge of the discipline but to the integration and application of this knowledge in a professional setting.  All students in the College engage with the professional community through clinical, internship or other external experiences.    Students have the opportunity to participate in Service Learning projects which benefit our community and the world.  Engaging in the profession and the community encourages students to understand their role in the larger community and to appreciate the value of serving others.

The Faculty and Staff of the College lead by example as engaged citizens of the campus and the greater north east Indiana community.   Through their leadership and support students grow as professionals in their chosen discipline.

If you are trying to decide on a specific professional career, the advisors in the College will help you figure out an academic path that will lead to achieving your professional goals.   Please take advantage of the student services throughout the campus and again welcome to IPFW.

Sincerely,

Ann M. Obergfell, JD, RT(R)
