Research Interests

Prof. Kleinschmit’s research focuses on examining the procedural elements of local government, in an effort to help better explain environmental decision making in the United States. His dissertation, “A Hierarchical Linear Modeling Analysis of State and Local Effects on Community Involvement in Municipal Land Use Governance,” examined how community groups and administrative officers influence the outcomes of municipal planning processes. His research interests include administrative theory, eGovernment, coastal resource management, water policy and transportation.
