Congratulations to Kathy Pollock, associate professor of accounting is the 2011 recipient of the "Friend Award." The award carries a stipend of $1,500. Pollock has been an accounting professor for more than 20 years and has been teaching full-time at IPFW since 1996. Her fundamental teaching philosophy includes promoting the core competencies students need for a successful career in accounting. Pollock's teaching methods include engaging students in the learning process through in- and out-of-class activities that require their participation and to use the feedback to assess their learning for both formative and comprehensive purposes. Because she also spent time working in public accounting, she is able to share that experience with students. Pollock is also very proud that accounting students from IPFW who have take the CPA exam have a consistently higher passion percentage than the national average.
