Dr. Jun Ma and Dr. William Todorovic hadn’t really planned on spending the end of December and early January in China. However, that’s just what both these faculty members in the Department of Management and Marketing in the Richard T. Doermer School of Business and Management Sciences at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) will be doing. The two leave Fort Wayne for China, Friday, December 11. Once they arrive, they will each lead a 12-day seminar for graduate students at Zhejian Gongshang University (ZJSU).
Todorovic and Ma were invited to present the seminars by ZJSU, formerly known as Hangzhou University of Commerce and Hangzhou Business School, because of their continued collaboration and research into entrepreneurship and marketing. Todorovic will concentrate on issues related to starting and managing a small business, while Ma will focus on marketing strategy and consumer behavior.
Todorovic is looking forward to the trip because it will foster the seeds of collaboration between the two universities and the Northeast Indiana Innovation Center. “I will also be visiting the entrepreneurship center there, looking for opportunities to collaborate and grow trade partnerships.”
Todorovic and Ma say they are very honored Zhejiang Gongshang University chose them to lead the seminars after touring several colleges and universities in the United States earlier this year, including IPFW.
The two will also be taking a side trip to visit Huaiynin University, located at Huaian, JiangSu Province, at the request of Fort Wayne Deputy Mayor Greg Purcell. Ma says Purcell asked them to visit the university in the city as part of an ongoing effort to establish a Sister City relationship with Huaian. Ma said it is “not just to build a relationship, but to contribute to the economic development of that region in China as well as here in northeast Indiana.”
