Kent Kauffman received his J.D. from Penn State University’s The Dickinson School of Law in 1993. Prior to joining the Richard T. Doermer School of Business in 2009, he was the Legal Studies Chair at Ivy Tech Community College-Fort Wayne, and taught at IPFW. He is licensed to practice law in Indiana and holds two mediation certifications from the Indiana Commission for Legal Education, as well as an arbitration certification from the Better Business Bureau.
Kent’s teaching interests are in business law, contracts and commercial law, and ethics. Kent is the author of two books, including a legal ethics text that is in its second edition. He has been an instructor for the Indiana Continuing Legal Education Forum, and has twice been a presenter at the Fort Wayne Teaching Conference. In his books and classes, he emphasizes the inclusion of movie clips and noted legal scandals to elucidate key points. His research interests are in ethics, alternative dispute resolution, and education law.
Kent is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association, and is on the board of directors of the Educational Opportunity Center, a Fort Wayne community resource for people who want to begin or continue their education.
