Special Program Requirements
Before Admission into the program:
- Prerequisite courses may not be taken on a pass/fail option.
- A minimum prerequisite GPA of 2.5/4.0 and a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0/4.0 is required to be eligible for entrance into the dental assisting program.
- Developmental courses will not be calculated in a candidate’s grade-point average (GPA). i.e., ENG W130 or ENG R150.
- Begin receiving the Hepatitis B immunization series.

After program admission, but before classes begin the student must:
- have a physical exam (can be done on campus at the IPFW/Parkview Health & Wellness Clinic)
- continue to receive the Hepatitis B immunization series until completed (CDC info) (can be done on campus at the IPFW/Parkview Health & Wellness Clinic)
- receive the Hepatitis B titer (blood) test (can be done on campus at the IPFW/Parkview Health & Wellness Clinic)
- complete TB testing (CDC info) (can be done on campus at the IPFW/Parkview Health & Wellness Clinic)
- complete CPR certification (AHA healthcare provider or ARC professional level)
Thereafter, CPR updates are required to remain certified as a Dental Assistant by the Dental Assisting National Board.
