Why dual credit?
- USDOE statistics show dual credit high school students more likely to complete college than non-dual credit peers, and do so more quickly
- Nationally, 70% of public high schools offer dual credit
- Indiana high school Honor’s diploma requirements include two dual credit courses
- Currently, 70 core courses are in the process of being cleared for transfer to public Indiana higher education
Benefit to students:
- Both high school and college credit for courses at their own high school.
- Courses are transferable to Indiana colleges and universities. (However, it is the students’ responsibility to confirm the credits will transfer to their intended collegiate institution of choice.)
- Courses have a substantial fee remission on tuition yet bring full college credit. Tuition is $85 per credit hour, and the fee is waived for students in the free and reduced lunch program.
- Begin building college relationship and transcript while still in high school.
- Access to IPFW technology and resources, including Indiana University library online; familiarity with college-level integration of technology in classrooms.

- Classroom educational materials and professional development
- Purdue employee tuition remission
- Affiliation with Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne
- Tuition paid for required approved course
- Access to IPFW faculty resources, including Indiana University Library online
Benefit to schools:
- Provide high achieving students with additional course opportunities
- Minimum administrative efforts (IPFW bears full burden of administration)
- Professional development provided for participating teachers
- Classroom materials provided from enrollment funds
- University resources available to participating students
