What is Concurrent Enrollment?

The IPFW School-Based Concurrent Enrollment Program is a partnership between IPFW and participating High Schools in northeastern Indiana. This program offers college credit to qualified high school juniors or seniors who enroll in IPFW general education courses that are offered at their local high schools during the regular school day and taught by approved high school teachers who hold adjunct lecturer status with IPFW. Concurrent Enrollment courses are administered from the Fort Wayne campus in conjunction with the Collegiate Connection program.

The program is for high school students, generally juniors or seniors, who have adequate preparation and the desire for more advanced work. Through its course offerings, it provides an opportunity for high school students to begin college work while in high school. The courses are actual college courses intended to allow a wide range of students to engage in college level work for college credit. concurrent enrollment courses are designed for students who have both a solid academic foundation, whose interests can be furthered by acquiring college credit prior to graduation, and who make a serious commitment to completing the course successfully.

These courses provide both high school and college credit (concurrent enrollment), so students can fulfill requirements for high school graduation and college admission while beginning to build a college transcript.
