WEST LAFAYETTE MEETING

Louise Misegades.  The various committee chairs of CSSAC and APSAC (ASC) were invited to meet the new president of Purdue at 8 am on Monday, May 7.  This was before the formal announcement was made.  They were very impressed with her because she was very easy to talk with and wanted to know a lot about what they were interested in at the workplace.  She stated that she considered herself a staff person.

If a person wants an “A” parking permit at West Lafayette, it will cost $250 per year.

John Beelke stated that OnePurdue conversion will be starting in May.  They will be checking the system, hardware, etc.  The Health Plan Advisory Committee sent a proposal to the administration recommending a basic dental coverage with a Purdue subsidy with the 2008 year.  Changes in the pharmacy benefits are also under review.

There was a presentation on the Wellness initiative.

COMMITTEE REPORTS

Campus Traffic Appeals.  Dennis Shadle reported that at the April 27 meeting, the committee reviewed 31 appeals, upheld 30 and dismissed one.

University Council.  Susan Lehman reported on the last meeting.  The Chancellor spoke on the upcoming groundbreaking ceremonies and on Susan Hiatt’s retirement.  The IU president-elect visited here.  Military Science training will be offered here in the fall with Hal Broberg as the contact person.  In legislative news, the connection project was approved and construction will begin next summer.  IPFW will be taking over some buildings at the State Developmental Center beginning July 1.  Departments will be able to move into the Music Building in July.

Enrollment Management Council.  Joleen Down reported on her attendance at the last meeting.  An independent firm was hired to do a communication assessment of our campus.  Recommendations are being reviewed.  The final report from the foundations of excellence campaign was just sent out thru CASA.

Grant Committee.  Susan Humphrey passed out a sheet with a list of issues regarding the grant program.  Discussion followed.  A final plan and vote will be presented at the next meeting.

BRIDGE QUESTIONS

Q:        A couple of years ago, Purdue offered PERF employees close to retirement an “early” retirement.            Are there plans to make this offer again within the next year or two?

A:        There is no definite plan to offer a PERF incentive program.
