CONDITION OF CHILDREN RESOURCE SITE
Success By 6 is a community partnership dedicated to increasing awareness of and investment in early child development, and is working in over 330 communities nationwide and in Canada. The goal of Success By 6 is to offer all children a good start in life so that by the time they begin Grade One (age 6), they are physically, socially and emotionally healthy and ready to learn. The United Way is bringing together partners from the public, private and non-profit sectors, all intent on focusing on improving school readiness through community change, and more information about this program can be found on the United Way of Allen County's web site. Data, and the evaluation of this data, is an integral part of this process, and this section of the United Way of Allen County's Success By 6 program is dedicated to provide those resources.While this web based section of Success By 6 entitled " The Condition of Children" is a data-based site developed to:
- To provide service providers, policy makers, and the public a "one-stop shop" source of meaningful data to be used for program planning, evaluation, fund development, and public information;
- To supply the user with current, up-to-date information;
- To promote dialogue and action based on trends or unacceptable conditions,

There are 5 Main Chapters in this web based data section which are listed below. In each chapter, topics of interest are identified.
A quick word about the authors and the related web-site "AllenCountyProfile.org": The Community Research Institute is located at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW), and conducts research related to the social and economic conditions and outlook of northeast Indiana, as well as providing expertise in urban policy, economic development, and governance issues. Part of our mission is making data available to the public about the community. The AllenCountyProfile.org web site and this Condition of Children data base provide very similar information, and often link to each other.
