FORT WAYNE AREA
ECONOMIC RELATED DATA
CRI presents five areas of economic activity for the Fort Wayne Area
(note: not all data is available in an MSA format):
Construction, Employment, Income, Prices, and "Miscellaneous"
Note: Each Fort Wayne area economic data section begins with a
graphic presentation, and then includes data for the most recent
two years, comparison percentages, definitions, and sources.
In most cases,
seasonal adjustments and indexing are done by CRI. Whenever possible,
comparison charts for both the United States and Fort Wayne area
are shown.
The data currently being used for the Fort Wayne metropolitan statistical
area (MSA) consists of six counties (see below):
Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, Wells, and Whitley. (
Fort Wayne is located entirely in Allen County.)
More information on these counties can be found in the Census
section, and information on MSA definitions are in the FAQ
section.
Every ten years or so, the Office of Management and
Budget reviews standards and definitions which may result in new MSAs or totally new definitions.
The FW MSA has been modified and there are also new concepts: "Micropolitan Statistical Area" and
"Combined Statistical Area". Both of these definitions and their relevance to the area are discussed
in the FAQ section. All reporting will be done on the current MSA definition
for the time being. Unemployment data will be published in 2005 under the new definitions
and the Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that "information will be forthcoming about the publication
plans of other areas". CRI will report that schedule here as soon as it is known.
