Our May/June Member of the Month is Susan Domer.

Recently celebrating 15 years at IPFW, Susan Domer is the marketing and public relations specialist for the College of Visual and Performing Arts and a member of the IPFW Blue and White Committee. Before joining IPFW in 2000, she was the marketing director at the Fort Wayne Civic Theatre. “This job at IPFW was a perfect fit for me, but it required me to finish my Bachelor’s degree once I was hired,” explained Domer. “I had my associates in General Studies and this gave me a chance to take classes that clearly helped me have a well-rounded understanding of my new IPFW clients.”

Classes like Music for the Listener, Art Appreciation and Intro to Music Therapy helped lay the ground work for Domer to better support these areas, along with Theatre, her original major when she was a student at IPFW in 1978. She has performed in over 60 productions in Fort Wayne over the years, including musicals, comedies and dramas at all of the community theatres in Fort Wayne. Her husband Tim is a general contractor in Fort Wayne and has been a huge influence on another area of interest, her knowledge and understanding of historic homes and construction techniques.

“During times when the university is struggling with its sure-footedness in the light of so many reports, I think it’s important for the people who work here, and were educated here, to come together to support the institution that supported us,” explained Domer. “That’s why I have joined my colleagues on the Blue and White Committee. There are over 300 of us on campus who have the ability to make a difference in how this university is perceived and I am happy to try.”
