Welcome to our Commencement Information Web site

IPFW's Commencement Ceremony will be held Wednesday, May 14, 2008, at 7 p.m. in the Memorial Coliseum. If you completed requirements for graduation in December 2007 or plan to do so in May 2008 or summer 2008, you are eligible to participate.

Where do you get tickets? Cap and gown? How long does the ceremony last?

We'll try to answer all those questions and more. If you don't find what you need to know, e-mail us at commence@ipfw.edu and we will find the answer for you.

But, first check out the column at the left and see if we've got the information you need.

Commencement Activities

Our ceremony is held in the Arena of the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum and the student and faculty processional will begin at 7 p.m. Attendance is not compulsory but is encouraged. Detailed instructions concerning the ceremony will be given to you with your cap and gown. There is no student rehearsal prior to the ceremony. Your guests do not need tickets, and the number of guests you may invite is not limited. The ceremony lasts approximately two hours.

If your guests include people with disabilities who wish to request special accommodations, contact the Academic Ceremonies office at least two weeks prior to Commencement so appropriate arrangements can be made.

A Graduation Celebration for the members of the 2008 graduating class, their guests, and the university community will be held in the Expo II and III immediately following the Commencement Ceremony on Wednesday, May 14, at the Coliseum. Complimentary punch and snacks will be provided. A cash bar will also be available. The celebration is hosted by Chancellor Wartell, Student Government and the IPFW Alumni Association. No tickets are necessary for this celebration. Doors to the celebration will not be opened until the Commencement Ceremony is concluded.

Along with the campus-wide Commencement at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, several schools have programs and receptions scheduled to recognize their graduates. Check back in March for specific information.
