Academic Standing
To maintain good academic standing, Purdue requires maintaining a B average. The IPFW Department of Communication requires students to receive grades of A or B to be in good academic standing. Probationary standing results from grades below B and precipitates the following actions:
- After receiving a C, you will be notified that you need to put your advisory committee together if you have not already done so. A second C puts you in jeopardy of being expelled from the program.
- After receiving a second C, you are expelled from the program unless there are extenuating circumstances (determined by your advisory committee).
- If you receive a D or F, you must sit out a regular semester (cannot be summer session) and then reapply for the program.
Visa Requirements for International Students
International students are generally required to take (at least) 9 credit hours to fulfill their student visa requirements. If an international student has a teaching assistantship, that requirement is met with 6 credit hours.
