STD Exams

With the exception of visible sores caused by the herpes virus or genital warts, most sexually transmitted diseases cannot be seen during self-examination. Chlamydia, gonorrhea, HIV/AIDS, hepatitis—all these STDs need to be tested by a clinician and require prescription medication. For more information please see the following links:

The IPFW/Parkview Clinic offers STD/HIV testing and follow-up treatment for a fee.

Pap Smears

A yearly Pap exam is recommended for women who are sexually active (or plan to be soon) or who are over the age of 18. Each year 15,000 women in the United States are diagnosed with cancer of the cervix. Regular pelvic exams and Pap tests enable most pre-cancerous conditions to be detected and treated before cancer develops, preventing more invasive cancers from developing. This is not an STD screen, however, these can be done during the same visit.

Contraception

For our patients with a current Pap exam (within one year), we offer the following discounted birth control options:

  • Cyclessa (Cesia), contraceptive pill: $15.00*
  • Desogen (Solia), contraceptive pill: $15.00*
  • Ortho Tri Cyclen (Tri-Previfem) contraceptive pill: $15.00*
  • NuvaRing, vaginal ring: $38.00*
  • Plan B: $35.00
  • Condoms: Free (Limit 5 per visit)
