Program

The Child Care Center provides children with a warm, loving environment that promotes acceptance, safety and security. Childhood is enriched within this positive environment where planned activities encourage healthy development, learning, and friendship.

Children are divided into two age groups:

  • 2–3 1/2-year-old children
  • 3–5-year-old children

School age children who join us after school and in the evenings will join the 3–5-year-old classroom. Your two-year-old child will move to the older classroom when he/she is at least 3 years old, fully potty-trained, and parents and teachers together have determined the move will be beneficial to the child.

Teacher to child ratios are

  • 2–3 1/2-year-old group-1:5
  • 3–5-year-old group-1:7
  • 6–12-year-group (after school, evening)-1:10
  • (The youngest child in the group determines the ratio.)

Class size: The 2–3 1/2-year-old classroom consists of a maximum of 10 children per classroom with one teacher and one aide.

Three-five-year-old children consist of a maximum of 14 children in the smaller classroom and 21 in the larger classroom with a teacher and one aide or teacher and one to two aides in the larger room.

The center is closed during scheduled university vacations and weather-related shutdowns.

Our program offers two child care options.

  • Regular care is offered for children who need care every week and allows for some week to week flexibility.
  • Occasional care is offered for children who do not need care every week, but occasionally need back up care. (ex. when the regular provider is unavailable, school delays and vacation days) Occasional care is available, as space and staffing perm
