- If the injury is not life threatening, but requires further treatment, we will make every effort to contact the parent(s) first, then the emergency contact in the event we cannot reach the parent.
- In the case of a life-threatening injury, emergency personnel will be called first. Parents will be called next. If parents cannot be reached, calls will be made to the individuals listed on your Emergency Information Card. A staff person who is familiar with your child will accompany your child to the hospital and wait until you or an emergency contact person arrives.
- An accident report will be completed for all accidents that leave a mark or involve a hard fall. These are left on the counter next to the sign-in clipboards and “accident report” will be written next to your child’s name.
Medical Insurance
The Child Care Center maintains primary insurance that will pay the first $5,000 of expenses incurred due to an accident at the center. Dental treatments are covered to a maximum of $500.
Suspected Child Abuse and Neglect
Teachers are required to report all suspicions of child abuse or neglect to the director. The director and teacher will meet to determine whether a “reason to believe” exists by evaluating the written and/or verbal evidence available. If the “reason to believe” exists, the director will proceed further reporting to Child Protective Services. All reports of child abuse are strictly confidential. These reports will not be made available to staff members, parents, or others who do not have a need to know.
