Hospitality and Tourism Management
Men and women with leadership ability are in great demand for managerial and administrative positions in the rapidly expanding hospitality industry. The number of available management positions in the industry continues to exceed the number of hospitality graduates each year.
Bachelors Degree
Students from this program assume responsibilities for managerial proficiency at various levels and for providing services in the multitude of situations where people eat or live away from home.
Associate Degree
This program helps you prepare for the responsibilities of supervising tourism businesses and operations of facilities that provide food service and lodging for large numbers of people. All courses required for this option apply to the Bachelor of Sciences in hospitality management at IPFW.
Dinner Series
In cooperation with the tourism businesses of Fort Wayne and greater Northeast Indiana, IPFW plans a number of events. Under the guidance of Dr. John B. Knight, Director of the Hospitality and Tourism Management Program at IPFW (260-481-6562), the events will be served to the dining public offering good value for the dollar, excellent cuisine, and wine tasting's at some events. Students in the class will be responsible for designing the menus, preparing the meals, and serving at the events. The IPFW Dinner Series Toast will begin each meal promptly at the time noted. All proceeds will benefit the Director’s Fund, the Program, or The HTM Student Club and its high school affiliates
Hotel
The six-story IPFW Holiday Inn at the Coliseum, located conveniently near the university, the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum, shopping, and restaurants, will include 150 beds, a restaurant, pool, and meeting rooms. The hotel also will serve as an academic laboratory for students of the IPFW Hospitality Management Program and Ivy Tech Community College–Northeast Culinary Arts Program.
