Writing Center Workshops
For Students
We offer campus-wide workshops each semester for all students, faculty, and staff interested in techniques to make their writing faster and easier. Dates, times, and locations change each semester; check out our Writing Center Workshop Schedule.
For Faculty
In-class workshops
On request, the Writing Center can tailor a workshop for your writing assignment and present it to your class. These workshops can help your students review the writing process and apply it to your writing project. We can cover getting started, conducting research, organizing the paper, and documenting source materials. Covering that material and any student questions requires a full class period.
Ideally, workshops should occur when the project is assigned or at least one month before the writing project is due. To schedule a workshop, please contact Mary Arnold Schwartz (schwartm@ipfw.edu) at least two weeks prior to your preferred workshop date. She will ask you to send her a copy of your writing assignment and arrange a one hour meeting to discuss the assignment and your goals for the workshop.
Professional Development Workshops
“Educating Responsible Writers: Teaching to Prevent Plagiarism” is a workshop sponsored by the Writing Center, CASA, CELT, and Helmke Library. Typically, this workshop is offered once a semester, but we will happily conduct this workshop by request for groups of instructors or professional development events. Contact Mary Arnold Schwartz (schwartm@ipfw.edu) or Samantha Birk (birks@ipfw.edu), CELT, to make arrangements.
