Tutoring Options

The Spot (KT G21) offers assistance to students who have questions about assignments, need formula or information clarified, or would like to talk to someone about their subject. Students will acquire a better understanding of the content, appropriate study skills, and critical thinking skills. These skills will enable students to become more independent, confident, learners and critical thinkers--skills that allow efficient and effective learning here at the university and in future careers.

Tutoring begins the second week of each semester and ends the week before final examinations. There are three types of tutoring available: drop-in, one-to-one, and math online.

Using One-to-One Tutoring

The Spot, Kettler Hall, Room G21
260-481-5419

The tutoring service at IPFW is provided free of cost to IPFW students. Students can have two hours of tutoring per week, per subject based on availability of tutors. In order to use the service, certain steps must be followed.

  1. Students need to make an appointment with a tutor on TutorTrac.
  2. Students are to sign up for one appointment at a time. Although students may have up to two hours of tutoring per subject, per week, they may sign up for only one appointment at a time. If a second appointment is needed it can be made after meeting with your tutor for the first appointment.
  3. All appointments must be made one day in advance.
  4. Students meet their tutors in Kettler G21.
  5. If an appointment needs to be cancelled, please give at least two hours notification. If two appointments are missed without notification, tutoring can be denied for the rest of the semester.
  6. Click here to begin using TutorTrac.

Using Drop-In Tutoring

Drop-in tutoring exists for immediate help with a question. Tutors answer a question, go to the next person and continue answering questions around the table. Another question can be asked when they return to you. Help is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Drop-in tutoring exists for high demand courses. Hours vary by semester.
