INTERNSHIP TITLE

  • Bi-lingual Interpreter & Animal Care Intern

DUTIES

  • Translate park tour guides and animal bio-facts
  • Translate "Good Health & Exotic Animals" educational hand-out
  • Provide translations of all park programs as needed
  • Schedule group tour appointments
  • Greet and orientate visitors upon arrival " Lead guided tours through the park providing bio-facts and interpreting exhibits
  • Create interactive opportunities for visitors to see and learn about animals through use of interpretive objects, such as feathers, pelts, eggs, etc.
  • Handle and present small animals for interactive interpretive encounters
    Help coordinate and assist with conducting special educational camps and activities for children of varying ages
  • Assist with cleaning habitats, making animal diets, and with animal enrichment activities as needed
  • Help maintain an accurate and informative daily report of animal care and behavior

DETAILS

  • This internship opportunity is contingent on a grant award to be announced by April 15, 2008
  • Because interns are scheduled to work and expected to behave like paid employees they often perform tasks at a higher level of accomplishment than volunteers
  • The participation of a bi-lingual intern will further expand the reach of educational programs at the park, and on the web, to people who would otherwise not benefit

    • Logistics training at Fort Lee, VA or Fort Eustis, VA

    • Logistics Intern will be:
      • Trained in the latest logistics concepts and methodologies
      • Educated in the latest business, resource and program management practices
      • Innovative and creative in providing logistics support to the Army
