Learn basic fabricating techniques to create rings and pendants using copper and silver. Study silver brazing, metal stretching and forming by hand, using polished hammers and casting. All skill levels are welcome and all tools, studio equipment and materials are included. Please note that students will use metalsmithing equipment such as acetylene torches, hammers, saws and files.
The activities involved in this class will be under the direct supervision of IPFW staff, and the safety of participants will be our primary concern. However, there are certain risks involved when using the equipment necessary for a class of this nature. Because of this, parents will be required to sign a waiver, release and hold harmless document as a condition of enrolling their child in this class.
All materials will be provided. This class is taught by IPFW art faculty member Robert Schroeder.
