UC² Event: “1863: The Civil War’s Pivotal Year”
  • On Jan. 1, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln issued his famed Emancipation Proclamation, which put the Civil War and American slavery on a path toward their end. It also marked one of many significant developments to take place in 1863, including Union victories at Gettysburg and Vicksburg, and Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address. Join UC2 in commemorating 150th anniversary of this pivotal year and discuss its importance for Lincoln, the Civil War, and the development of the American nation
  • Jeff Malanson, panelist
