Admission Requirements

Students entering Indiana University Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) declaring Business as a major will be coded as a pre-business major until the admission requirements below have been met.

Bachelor of Science in Business

To be admitted to the Bachelor’s of Science in Business program students must have:

  • completed 60 degree applicable credit hours
  • a cumulative GPA of 2.0
  • complete the courses listed, having received a C or better in each course with an asterisk and having a GPA of 2.3 or better for all the courses combined (ENG W131 is not included in the GPA calculation) BUS A201*, BUS A202*, BUS K211*,
    BUS K212*, BUS K213*, BUS L200*, BUS W204*, COM 114,
    ECON E201*, ECON E202*, ECON E270*, ENG W131*, ENG W233*,
    MA 229, PSY 120 or SOC S161
  • No more than 6 credits may be repeated and no course may be repeated more than once.
  • Both the original and the repeat grade earned will be used to compute the admission GPA. This includes course that were taken or repeated at IPFW or any other IU campus.

Once you have completed all of the pre-business requirements, you must notify the staff of the student center so that your file can be reviewed. If approved, you will then be asked to declare a concentration in the BSB program and will be coded in the computer as such.
