Instructions for Current Students
Out of courtesy to our speakers, you should plan to come to the seminar room five minutes before the start of class. A late arrival will result in no credit for that seminar. In order to maximize your learning from these seminars, you should be prepared to ask questions and discuss relevant issues with the presenters. We will continue to emphasize the diversity theme (in its broadest sense) in the the J300 seminars. The speakers have also been requested to address diversity issues in their presentations.
J300 is now a one-credit course offered on a pass/fail basis. In order to earn a passing grade, you will have to participate in three of the several J300 seminars offered during the academic year. Additionally, you are required to write an essay of approximately 300 words summarizing the major points made by the speakers in each of three seminars that you attend and provide your perspective on how those points may relate to you and your career. Each of the three essays will be graded on a pass/fail basis. If you get a failing grade on any of the essays, you have the opportunity to participate in another seminar and write a new essay.
