From the Dean
Welcome to the Richard T. Doermer School of Business and Management Sciences (DSBMS). I am excited to join the School as the new Dean. I would like to share with you my vision for the School. I was attracted to IPFW because DSBMS is a school characterized by dedicated faculty and administrators, motivated and eager-to-learn students, and a vibrant and supporting business community. With these qualities, there is no wonder that DSBMS is the only business school in northeast Indiana accredited by AACSB (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business). This organization periodically reviews the business programs of more than 1600 business schools in the United States and accredits approximately 300 of them. We are proud to have earned this recognition.
My goals for DSBMS are to build on the School’s strengths by enhancing student learning and faculty professional development; dramatically increasing service to, and partnership with corporate 
and industry associations. I intend to enhance the School’s leadership position in regional economic development through internships, co-ops, and engaging faculty intellectual contributions. Eventually, I want DSBMS to become the cradle of visionary and nationally recognized business leaders. The School will achieve these goals through the following strategic initiatives:
- Emphasize forward-looking vision and life-long learning skills in our curricula;
- Foster personal integrity and social responsibility in our students;
- Provide students with opportunities to participate in real world projects as part of their learning experience;
- Assess student learning outcomes in national student competitions;
- Foster a global perspective in our students with international studies programs.
