ADVANCED WRITER’S NOTEBOOK WORKSHOP
An advanced writer’s workshop on writer’s notebook for k-16 educators will be presented by Appleseed Project Teacher Consultant Marg Goyings.  In this half-day workshop, she will present further strategies in using writer’s notebooks to generate writing ideas and build on writing seeds for students in all subject and grade levels.  Bring your writer’s notebook!

Appleseed Writing Project - Open Institute
Based on best writing practices supported by the National Writing Project’s IPFW
affiliate, the Appleseed Writing Project is designed to professionally develop teachers as
writers and teachers of writing within their content area. Using constructivist learning
methods including writer’s workshop, conferencing, revising, dialogue in teaching,
collaborative learning, teaching for diversity, accommodating styles, learning through
inquiry in teaching, and technology in teaching, everyone in the course is a learner and
teacher.

AWP Goals

Update and expand teachers' training in quality writing instruction
Expand each teacher's current awareness of what it means to write
Enable teachers to increase their knowledge and enjoyment of writing and share it with their students
Introduce "best practices" to empower young writers
