National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association (NSSLHA)
IPFW has a recognized chapter of the National Student Speech-Language-Hearing Association. Students may join the student affiliate organization of ASHA and begin to receive professional journals and other important mailings. Applications for membership may be obtained in the AUS Lab and Library.
NSSHLA meets regularly (as the Speech and Hearing Club) on campus. Any IPFW student enrolled in at least one credit hour may join the SHC regardless of major. Applications for membership may be obtained in Neff Hall 239 by the faculty mailboxes.
What is SHC?
The Speech and Hearing Club has the following purposes:
- To create and stimulate an interest in speech pathology, audiology and education of people with speech and hearing disorders among IPFW students.
- To encourage professional growth by providing learning experiences not offered in the formal course structure.
- To foster a spirit of unity by coordinating the interests and efforts of persons with a common goal by offering opportunities for social and professional fellowship and by providing situations in which students and faculty may work together to advance the profession as a whole.
- To educate the community as to the role of and need for speech pathology, audiology and education of people with speech and hearing disorders.
Member Benefits
The Speech and Hearing Club offers students a chance to:
- Meet new people—educators, scientists, clinicians in the field, other students, etc.
