Department of Audiology & Speech Sciences

Introduction

The Audiology and Speech Sciences Department offers a pre-professional degree program in speech and hearing therapy that helps students prepare for graduate degrees in speech-language pathology or audiology. With a graduate degree, professionals may begin human-service careers working with children, adults, and/or older persons who have speech, language, or hearing disorders.

Successful AUS professionals will offer assistance to enhance our most distinctively human ability—communication. In the B.S. program, coursework and real-world experiences prepare degree candidates to work with communicatively disabled individuals in educational, healthcare, agency, rehabilitation, clinical, and private settings. The beginning practicum courses prepare students to work with clients as they continue their education in graduate school. These practicum courses offer services through the IPFW communication disorders clinic to the campus and surrounding community.
