Penn State tops IPFW in Four

Fort Wayne, IN- Playing a young, and unproven lineup for most of the match, IPFW fell to Penn State, 3-1 on Saturday night at the Gates Sports Center.

IPFW started five freshman against the Nittany Lions, hoping to shake things up. Unfortunately it didn’t pay off. PSU (3-2) won by the scores of 30-19, 30-17, 28-30, and 30-24.

Penn State registered three players in double-figure kills, led by junior outside hitter Matt Proper with nineteen.

IPFW got a double-double from senior outside hitter Matt Zbyszewski with 14 kills and 11 digs. Zbyszewski was the only ‘Don in double figures.

With the loss, IPFW falls to 1-2. They host a pair of games next weekend. They will welcome Lewis University on Friday (1/28) and Findlay on Saturday (1/29) to begin conference play.
