Romeoville,
IL-
It's not often that you play so well and come away with so little,
but that is exactly what happened on Wednesday night for
the IPFW Volleydons in their MIVA match with Lewis.
Lewis swept
IPFW 3-0, but it wasn't nearly as easy as the final score would
indicate. The Flyers won by the scores of 30-28, 40-38, 30-26.
Game two's
40-38 was a classic, and one of the highest scoring in the
country this year. The Mastodons had nine game points, but
couldn't
convert.
Lewis converted on their second try.
Game one
was also tight with IPFW holding a three-point lead late, but
Lewis rallied to win by two.
Lewis (15-14,
9-6 MIVA*) had three players in double figure kills, with Matt
Mueller leading the way with a match-high 20 kills.
For the 'Dons
(10-15, 8-7 MIVA) senior opposite Matt Zbyszewski registered
16 kills and two service aces.
Junior middle
hitter Serdar Sikca added 12 kills and six block assists.
IPFW wraps
up the regular season with a non-conference match with Rutgers-Newark,
Friday night at Gates, and a conference match with Ohio State
on Saturday night, also at Gates. Both matches begin at 7pm.
* Lewis is
not eligible for post season play due to NCAA violations.
