Volleydons Dispatch Lakers

Fort Wayne, IN-The IPFW Mastodons shook off a sluggish start and swept past the Mercyhurst Lakers, in three straight games Saturday night, in MIVA action at the Hilliard Gates Center.

The ‘Dons won by the scores of 30-24, 30-26, and 30-22 .

Mercyhurst jumped out to a quick 6 – 1 lead in game one, but IPFW came roaring back behind the play of leftside hitter Josh Collins who put down five kills. He finished the match with thirteen.

The second game featured a serving clinic by Matt Zbyszewski. The two-time MIVA player of the week, registered six service aces in the second set. He also finished the match with 13 kills and 21.5 points.

The win snaps a five game losing skid for IPFW and places them at 11-7 and 9-2 in conference play.

They continue MIVA play Tuesday (3/30) traveling to Findlay, Ohio to face the Oilers. Match time is 7pm.
