Volleydons lose 3rd Straight

Long Beach, CA-California has not been inviting for the IPFW men's volleyball team. The Mastodons dropped their third straight on the West Coast, Friday night, 3-0 to #12 UC-Irvine, in the opening match of the Long Beach State Beach Bash, at the Pyramid.

The Anteaters rolled by the score of 30-23, 30-20, and 30-20.

Irvine was on fire, hitting .500 in the first two games, and finishing with three players in double digits kills. All-American Jimmy Pelzel (17), Jayson Jablonski (11), and David Smith (10) led the Anteaters (9-15).

#8 IPFW got a 14 kill night from Matt Zbyszewski, who was a dig shy of a double-double with nine.

With the loss, the 'Dons fall to 10-5, and the road doesn't get any easier.

IPFW will face host Long Beach St. (#2 in the latest AVCA poll) Saturday at 5pm PST), and then return back to Indiana to play MIVA foe Ball State in Muncie on Friday (3/26).
