Volleydons Back on Winning Track

Fort Wayne, IN- After dropping their first conference match to #9 Ball State on Friday night, the #10 IPFW men’s volleyball team returned to winning form sweeping three from the University of Findlay, Saturday night at the Gates Center.

The Mastodons won by the scores of 30-27, 30-26, and 30-26.

It wasn’t an offensive gem, but it was good enough to get the job done. IPFW out-hit the Oilers .163 to .108.

Matt Zbyszewski (Toronto, ON, Canada) recorded 20 points in the match on 16 kills, 5 total blocks (1-solo, 4 assists), and one service ace. He also had eight digs.

Junior setter Dennis Santiago (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) had 13 digs to go along with his 31 assists.

Mike Daiga (So/MH/Columbus, OH) figured in on seven blocks in the match (1-solo, 6 assists).

Jeff Overfield led the Oilers with 11 kills. Findlay (10-5, 3-4 MIVA) had a tough time at the service line with 18 service errors.

The Mastodons (7-2, 5-1 MIVA) return to action on Friday night (2/27) hosting Quincy University at 7pm.
