Make Short Work of Clarke
Fort
Wayne, IN- It took the IPFW men’s volleyball team just
over an hour to dispatch of winless Clarke University in MIVA action
Friday night at the Gates Center. IPFW blitzed the Crusaders in
three straight.

by the scores of 30-18, 30-17, and 30-15.
A number of ‘Dons put in strong hitting nights. Juniors Dennis
Santiago (S/Bayamon, Puerto Rico) and Mitch
Dreisbach (OH/Mishawaka,
IN) hit an identical .625 (6K/1E/8A).
Junior middle Serdar
Sikca (Istanbul, Turkey) and freshman Christiano
Moriera (Belo Horizante, Brazil) were each around .500. Sikca
hit .500 (6K/1E/10A) while Moriera led the ‘Dons with nine kills
on the night, and finished, slugging .533.
As always, the defensive game was strong with Arnie’s Army registering
three solos, and 28 blocking assists. Santiago and Mike
Daiga (So/MH/Columbus, OH) each had six.
With the win, the Mastodons improve to 4-1 overall and 3-0 in
league play. Clarke falls to 1-7, 0-6.
The troops will have little time to savor this one. They host
Lewis College tomorrow night (2/14) at the Gates Center. Game
time is 7pm.
