Mastodons
Making Noise in the MIVA
Fort
Wayne, IN- Starting out the 2004 men’s volleyball season,
the IPFW Mastodons find themselves in a three-way tie atop the
conference standings in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball
Association.
At 4-1 overall, and 2-0 in conference, the ‘Dons are tied with
Loyola and Quincy as the only undefeated teams remaining in league
play.
IPFW also boasts a number of conference statistical leaders.
Matt Zbyszewski (Sr/OH/Toronto, ON, Canada) continues to lead
the conference, and Nation, in points per game (8.00) and kills
per game (7.00).
The big-three of Serdar
Sikca (So/MH/Istanbul, Turkey), Mike Daiga (So/MH/Columbus, OH), and Dennis Santiago (Jr/S/Bayamon,
Puerto Rico) continue to be a wall in the middle. They are listed
1-2-3 in the conference in blocks per game. Sikca with 1.84,
Daiga with 1.79, and Santiago with 1.42.
Santiago is also second in the MIVA in assists per game with
12.79. He trails Mark Peckham of Ohio State by just .15 per game.
Senior Isaac
White (L/Gambier, OH) is third in the conference
in digs per game with 2.24.
As a team, IPFW leads the conference in blocks per game at 4.37,
assists at 14.84, and kills with 15.68.
The Volleydons return to action, this Friday (2/13) and Saturday
(2/14) with matches against Clarke College, and defending National
Champion Lewis University.
