Arnie’s Army Captures 2nd MIVA Win

Fort Wayne, IN- The troops are in great spirits after knocking off Ohio State in front of 1,278 fans, Friday night at the Gates Center.

The IPFW men’s volleyball team moves to 4-1 (2-0 MIVA) with a 3-1 win over the Buckeyes. The Mastodons won the four-setter by the scores of 35-33, 30-20, 30-32, and 30-25.

Matt Zbyszewski (Sr/OH/Toronto, ON, Canada) led the attack with a match-high 28 kills. Junior leftside Mitch Dreisbach also registered double-figure kills in the match with ten.

Middles Serdar Sikca (Jr/Istanbul, Turkey) and Mike Daiga (So/Columbus), and setter Dennis Santiago (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) were huge on defense.

Daiga, playing against his hometown Buckeyes, factored in on 13 blocks. Sikca and Santiago helped roof 12 stoppers a piece. Santiago also doubled up with 49 assists in the match.

OSU (4-4, 0-2 MIVA) had four players with double digit kills, led by Andy Cole with twenty.

IPFW will now be off until next Friday night (2/13) when they host Clarke College at 7pm.
