Zbyszewski Selected MIVA Player of the Year
Mastodons host Lewis Saturday Night

Columbus, OH- The Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association has announced its All-Conference selections for the 2004 season.

By a vote of the conference coaches, IPFW outside hitter Matt Zbyszewski (Sr., Toronto, Ontario) has been named the MIVA Player of the Year and Loyola middle hitter James Grunst (Fr., Milwaukee, Wis.), the MIVA Freshman of the Year. Buckeye coach Pete Hanson was named the MIVA Coach of the Year.

Zbyszewski ranked first in three MIVA conference only statistical categories. He was the conference leader in points (6.69), kills (5.52) and aces (.58) per game. He ranked ninth (1.98) in digs and 14th in blocks (1.10) per game and was 14th in hitting percentage at .349.

Ohio State, the MIVA regular season champion, and Loyola had four players each named to the All-Conference teams. Three players from Ball State, IPFW and Lewis were named to the teams with Findlay, Mercyhurst and Quincy honored with one each.

Joining Zbyszewski on the first team was IPFW teammate middle hitter Serdar Sikca (So., Istanbul, Turkey). Setter Dennis Santiago (Jr., Bayamon, Puerto Rico) was named to the second team.
