Mastodons Finish Regular Season with Sweep

Erie, PA-The IPFW men's volleyball team finished the 2004 regular season campaign on an "up-note" Saturday night in Erie, Pennsylvania. The Mastodons swept host Mercyhurst College 3-0.

The 'Dons won by the scores of 30-28, 30-26, and 32-30.

IPFW (14-10, 12-4 MIVA) finish the MIVA campaign in 4th place, and will take on Lewis University in the first round of the MIVA playoffs next week.

On Saturday, it was Matt Zbyszewski leading the Mastodons' attack with 11 kills and eight digs.

Freshman Cristiano Moriera had a double-digit kill night with ten of his own.

All in all, a very solid defensive effort for IPFW with 20 total blocks. Serdar Sikca registered six assists, while setter Dennis Santiago had added five.

Dave Schmidl led a spirited "senior night" offense for the 'Hurst with a match-high 16 kills.
