Limp into MIVA Finale
State
College, PA-IPFW will take a two-game losing streak into
tomorrow night's regular season finale at Mercyhurst College.
Friday night at Penn State, the Mastodons fell to the #7 Nittany
Lions 3-2.
The winning
match scores for Penn State read 24-30, 35-33, 30-21, 17-30, and
15-11 in the 5th set.
While they
may have dropped the match, the Mastodons are showing that they
are on the mend.
Freshman outside
hitter Cristiano Moreira got his first significant
action in two weeks.. Moreira looked good with seven kills and
four digs.
Senior right
side Matt Zbyszewski also showed no ill effects
from a recent minor injury. The Nation's top offensive threat
registered a 23 kill, 10 dig night.
The 'Dons
(13-10) also got double-digit kill nights from freshman outside
hitter Josh Collins (15) and
sophomore middle Serdar Sikca (14).
Nate Meerstein
led the Nittany Lion attack with 17 kills.
#13 IPFW had
more kills in the match than Penn State (70-58).
The Mastodons
will finish the 2004 regular season Saturday night against the
Lakers of Mercyhurst College. Game time is 6pm local time.
