Ohio
State wins in Five
Columbus,
OH - #14 Ohio State held off #13 IPFW in an exciting
five set match Saturday night in Columbus, Ohio.
The Buckeyes
(18-8, 11-3) won by the scores of 23-30, 32-30, 30-24,
27-30, and 15-7.
The Mastodons
(13-9, 11-4) wasted a career night from freshman left-side Josh
Collins (Bancroft, ON, Canada). Collins registered
20 kills and seven digs.
Matt
Zbyszewski (Sr/RS/Toronto, ON, Canada) also registered
20 kills to go along with nine digs. Zbyszewski also had an up-and-down
serving night with six aces, and eight service errors.
Mitch
Dreisbach (Jr/OH/Mishawaka, IN) also registered double-figure
kills with thirteen.
Ohio State
also had three players in double-figure kills, led by sophomore
outside hitter Andy Cole with 20 kills and 11 digs.
IPFW was out-hit
in the match .255 to .201, but actually scored more points than
the Buckeyes (93.0 to 81.0).
IPFW will
take to the road next weekend to play their final two regular
season matches. The 'Dons take on Penn State on Friday the
16th in a non-conference match, then travel to Erie,
PA to face Mercyhurst on Saturday
the 17th, in their final MIVA match.
