Dons Improve to 6-0 After Win Over Westerwinds

Fort Wayne, IN - The Mastodons first match of the Western Illinois Pizza Hut Invitational may have taken four games, but it was win number six for IPFW.

The Westerwinds took game one, 32-34, but the Dons rallied back and took the next three, 30-23, 30-18, 30-22.

Four ladies recorded double-doubles for the evening. Erika Leitzke had 48 assists and 17 digs but Cynara Martins had her in the digging department with 23 to go with her 14 kills.

Fabiana Souza recorded 26 kills and 13 digs. Souza is now just 10 kills out of the career record for kills. Amanda Pfister just made her double-double with 10 kills and 10 digs.

Jessica Miller led IPFW in blocking with three solos and two assists. Souza had a pair of solos and assists while Claire Jackson put up three block assists.

For WIU, Mo Houston knocked out 13 kills and Jennifer Alexander dug up 31 balls.

The Mastodons continue tomorrow in the Pizza Hut Invitational with matches against Southern Miss at 11:00 am and Murray State at 5:00 pm.
