Mastodons Roll Over Cougars in Four

Chicago, IL - The Mastodons traveled to Chicago State on Sunday for the second meeting this season of the pair. IPFW defeated the Cougars in four games, (25-30, 30-13, 30-20, 30-23).

IPFW dropped game one to the Cougars, 25-30 but rallied back in game two to pummel Chicago State, 30-13. The Mastodons then went on to take games three and four. Overall the Dons hit an impressive .299 for the four game match and put up 10 total team blocks.

Fabiana Souza recorded a double-double with 21 kills and 18 assists. She hit a .359 for the match and also put up one block solo and two block assists.

Erika Leitzke put up 46 assists and 12 digs for her double-double. Leitzke also had a game high four service aces for the afternoon.

Amanda Pfister posted a personal season record for hitting percentage with a .406 after knocking down 14 kills with only one error in 32 attempts. Pfister also matched Souza's blocks with one solo and two assists.

Ellyann Bahlman set two career records while at Chicago State. She knocked down 12 kills (personal career record) with only two errors in 19 attempts (personal career record). She posted the highest hitting percentage of the match with a .526. Bahlman also put up three block assists.

Peachy Jankowski dug up 23 balls for the Mastodons and had two service aces.

In total five Mastodons recorded three blocks each. Claire Jackson and Jessica Miller round out the list. Jackson had three block assists while Miller had a block solo and two assists.

For Chicago State, Shakelia Castile-Jones had 16 kills and posted a .306 hitting percentage. Catherine Everist put up 40 assists while Zuzana Pokovicova had 17 digs.

The Mastodons will now have the week to prepare for Saint Louis University. They face the Billikens on Saturday at 4 pm at Saint Louis. The Mastodons will then host their final two home matches of the season against Valparaiso (Nov. 1, 5 pm) and Oakland (Nov. 5, 5 pm). IPFW will then travel to the Independent Tournament to defend their title November 10-12.
