Eagles
Push Past Mastodons

The IPFW Women's Volleyball team took on the Eastern Michigan Eagles for the
second time this season. It was a tough and forceful
match, but the Eagles prevailed in five games, 18-30,
30-27, 30-22, 25-30, 13-15.
After
a rough first match in which Head Coach Hartley Hutton
was ejected, the Mastodons rallied back and took games
two and three before the Eagles jumped out in the fourth.
In game five the Mastodons made up a deficit to only be
defeated in the end.
Fabiana
Souza put up 25 kills and 11 digs in the five
game contest. Souza also had two block assists.
Nicole
Howell returned to the lineup and put up 17
kills and 24 digs. Cynara Martins also
had 24 digs and 10 kills.
Erika
Leitzke put up 54 assists for the Dons while Peachy
Jankowski dug up 27 balls in the back row.
Jessica
Miller and Claire Jackson each
put up four blocks for IPFW.
For the
Eagles, four were in double digit kills, Melissa Bartlett
(19), Lindsay Piccolini (16), Becky Baltare (15) and Bethany
Piccolini (10). Anne Marie Price set up 62 balls for EMU
while Ashley Cudney dug up 41 balls.
The Mastodons
will now head on the road for a three game set. This Friday
they head to IUPUI with a start time of 7 pm. On Sunday
the Mastodons will be at Chicago State starting at 2 pm.
